Prom Dress Styles for Body Type
Prom season is upon us and finding one that fits perfectly can be very difficult. You want to select a dress that will flatter your figure. I know it can be hard with the thousands of choices available online. Preparing for this “big” night is such a huge deal for girls and finding the perfect dress can take some of the stress off this perfect night. There is an amazing, perfect dress out there for you no matter your shape or size. You can find a wide variety of prom dresses at www.jenjenhouse.com for any body type.
Here are some great tips to find prom dress styles for your body type.
Prom Dresses for Petite Body Types
If you’re petite, you can easily show off your tiny shape. You don’t want to drown yourself in a long gown that can overwhelm your tiny frame. Find a dress that is short and feminine without a lot of fabric to bunch up and hide your figure. If you don’t want a super short dress, opt for one that is just past the knee such as tea-length.

Prom Dresses for Rectangular Body Types
Have a boyish figure or rectangular body type? You’ll want to create an illusion of curves. You can add a belt or a dress that cinches at your waist to create the look of curves. Color blocking also enhances a rectangular body shape. One suggestion would be to try a dress with a different color on the top than on the bottom. Look at the dress before you try it on to see if it has any shape. You can quickly be able to tell this and if it doesn’t move on to the next dress. There are tons of choices so you will find something that will give you a girly figure.

Prom Dresses for Hourglass Body Types
You are in luck if you have an hourglass body type. You can wear pretty much anything and look absolutely gorgeous. Don’t pick the first dress you try on though. You’ll still want to make sure you are highlighting those curves you already have. A gown that is fitted through the top with a visible waist is perfect. You could even go as far as selecting a mermaid shaped gown.

Prom Dresses for Pear Body Types
You’ll want to highlight your waist up if you have a pear body type. Find a fun, flirty full skirt that flares out with a fitted top or bust. It will create the balance you need between your upper and lower halves. You could also add a gorgeous chunky necklace or select a dress with accents around the neckline. Think embellishments, beading or lace on the bust or neckline of your gown.

Prom Dresses for Apple Body Types
If you have an apple body type like me, you’ll want to try to find one with an empire waist. Solid colors with an empire waist are perfect. They accentuate the bust and then flare out on the bottom. A strapless neckline to show off your shoulders and arms is also great.
Belts will only bring more attention to your mid-section where you don’t want it. Bandage-style dresses are also a no-no. Steer clear of them unless you want attention brought to areas you are trying to avoid.

Prom Dresses for Plus-Size Body Types
Plus-sized girls now have a much wider variety than ever before to find the perfect dress. What’s your favorite body part? Whatever it is you should concentrate on accentuating it. Embellished sleeves are great if you want to hide your arms. An empire waist will hide your stomach. I love form-fitting through the chest and then flowing going down. Don’t make the mistake of covering too much up! You are gorgeous and should find something that enhances your figure and doesn’t hide it.

I’m petite but also short (petite for many only means thin), that’s why it’s ridiculous to wear any maxi dress though I’d love to. And it’s super hard to find a nice/proper above knee prom dress for short people like me (I’m only 155cm).
